BAPTISMS

Baptisms are often administered during the 10:45. a.m. Sunday Family Service on Epiphany, Pentecost, Easter, and during the Bishop's visitation, or when needed.

 

CONFIRMATION

Classes are taught early in the year by the Deacon in preparation for the Bishop's visitation in the spring, when the candidates are confirmed.  After the service the new Confirmands and newly Baptized are honored at a reception.

 

FESTAL SERVICES AND SPECIAL EVENTS

St. John's holds three services in celebration of Christ's birth.  The first one is a children's service at 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve, followed by a candlelight Holy Communion service 11:30 p.m.  A Holy Communion is celebrated at noon on Christmas Day.  On Shrove Tuesday the Vestry serves a pancake supper.  Holy Week events include Tenebrae, Maundy Thursday, and Way of the Cross.  Maundy Thursday is celebrated with Foot Washing.  Good Friday services are held at 12:00 Noon and are shared with the Lutherans, Presbyterians, and Methodists.  The Way of the Cross is held at 6:00 p.m. on Good Friday.  Easter Sunrise Service is shared with the congregation of the local First Lutheran Church.
